Michael Naples is a painter from Wheaton, IL. In 2001, he graduated from the American Academy of Art, in Chicago, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Art degree.

For the next decade, Naples would fill his time with freelance illustration projects, murals and hundreds of commissioned portraits. Though these jobs kept the craft going, Michael lacked the creative freedom and passion he once possessed in his work. He felt it was time for a switch to fine art and quickly got into still life oil painting. In this body of work he frames simple subjects with warm, dark backgrounds, pushing them forward and showcasing them with bold compositions, bright energetic color and strong value contrasts.

In August 2006, Michael started a Daily Painting blog where he would post small, alla prima paintings each day of the week. He still paints daily, but focuses on larger works which take several sittings to complete. With most of his sales online, he has been able to reach collectors all over the world including Australia, United Kingdom, Canada, Sweden and almost every state in the US. Michael has won several awards and had numerous articles published about his Daily Paintings. Recently, Michael has self published a book entitled "The First 300 Daily Paintings by Michael Naples" which features just that...his first 300 daily paintings. It is awe inspiring to see the entire collection and the journey as an artist from cover to cover.

When Michael is not behind the easel, he enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife and daughter.
